Fratelli Bonvini Milano 1909

Welcome to this place, born over a century ago. A historical workshop located in Milan where stories of paper, ink, typefaces and human faces have come together. This place was about to disappear but we managed to save it together with a group of friends, to renovate it carefully, and to return it to the city. We reopened the Fratelli Bonvini stationery and typography shop one year ago, and in this brief time, it has already grown rich in stories, networks and relationships. The special thing about places with a history like this is that no matter how small they are, they represent the deep caves of a tradition that is still alive in the present and will resonate in the future.

On Thursday November 17th at 18.30, we will host the presentation of two minor editorial collections in anastatic reprint by Scalpendi Editore, designed in the 1920s and 1930s by Antonio Rubino. There are 12 small volumes divided into the collections “La scuola dei giocattoli” (School of toys) and “La Bibliotechina prescolastica” (The small pre-school library). Antonio Rubino was one of the first creators of comic strip stories. In 1908, he was one of the founders of the newspaper for children, Corriere dei Piccoli. Martino Negri, editor of the collections, and art historian Giovanna Ginex will tell us about the many stories related to the characters invented by Antonio Rubino and to his wonderful way of drawing them. The whole edition was carefully and masterfully printed. A good opportunity to buy a Christmas present.
