Maori Miyayama lives and works between Milan and Tokyo. She graduated in cultural anthropology at the KEIO University in Tokyo. In 2001, she moved to Italy and obtained a diploma in Painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan. She participated in several personal and collective exhibitions in Italy and abroad. The Japanese Ministry of Cultural Affairs and various foundations have sponsored her artistic research.

Her personal background in anthropology and art lead her to investigate the relationship of points of view that are exchanged and move on the borderlines between cultures and generations. Using various media, such as painting, print, and installations, she mixes the traditional and contemporary Japanese and European techniques.
